- Erster Verbandswechsel wird am zweiten postoperativen Tag vorgenommen.
- Am vierten postoperativen Tag darf der Patient duschen.
- Die Fäden werden am siebten postoperativen Tag gezogen.
- Für die Dauer von ein paar Wochen (4-5) muss Kompressionskleidung getragen werden.

Es wird immer darauf geachtet, dass die Narbe nicht unterhalb des Ellenbogens verläuft, während sie nach oben den Buchstaben V bildet, damit der hintere und der vordere Winkel der Achselhöhlengrube korrigiert und auch der beharrte Bereich geschont wird.
Die enstehenden Narben sind fast immer befiedigend und diskret und heben sich bei Armbewegungen nicht hervor. Sie können nur bei demonstrativem Ausstrecken bemerkt werden. Das Tragen von elastischer Kleidung mit speziellen Streifen für die Arme trägt zum verheilen der Narbe bei.
Die Operation ist leicht mit ruhiger postoperativer Periode. Der Patient darf seine Arbeit schon am nächsten Tag wieder aufnehmen. Die Prozedur dauert etwa eine Stunde und wird unter Allgemeinanästhesie durchgeführt. Mittelstarke Schmerzmittel sind ausreichend für die unmittelbare postoperative Periode und die Antibiotika werden für vier Tage verschrieben. Der Verband wird am zweiten Tag nach der Operation gewechselt und am vierten Tag kann der Patient nach dem Verbandswechsel duschen, was er auch danach jeden Tag machen muss. Die Fäden werden am siebten Tag gezogen. Die Komplikationen sind minimal und bestehen meistens in einer kleinen Dehiszenz der Wunde, welche von selbst verheilt.
